Elements and Performance Criteria
- Respond to aviation accidents and incidents
- Aviation accident and incident response conditions are analysed, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Appropriate resources are identified, accessed and used, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Hazards and risks are identified and continually monitored and communicated to relevant personnel, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Determine aircraft sizeup
- Size up strategy is communicated to firefighting team
- Control an aircraft accident or incident
- Firefighting teams and incident conditions are monitored to maintain safest working conditions at aviation scene
- Changing conditions are communicated to supervisor and team members
- Extinguishing medium is applied correctly
- Supervise rescue and evacuation of persons on board aircraft
- Removal of injured persons is undertaken and medical assistance is provided, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Operation of extrication equipment is monitored
- Aircraft facilities, equipment and/or structures removed or damaged during rescue operations are recorded, in accordance with organisational procedures and Air Navigation Regulations
- All persons on board are accounted for and information is communicated through the chain of command, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Preserve aircraft scene
- Security of aircraft and scene is maintained, in accordance with organisational procedures
- Liaise with emergency services
- Emergency services liaison is undertaken, as required
